A 6 cylinder engine generally stops in one of three places every time. You'll notice this if you have one place where the starter won't engage. About a third of the time it stops on that spot and you have to turn the engine by hand a little to get it to engage.
That being said, have the machine shop mark where the bad spots are before removal and move them about 60 degrees when installing.
