A lot of parts will interchange however you need to be aware that when your truck was built there were a lot of differences in the two brands. During the 70's things started to get blurred but up into the 60's the GMC was considered the premium truck and it went beyond just the differences in the engines. Get yourself a Shop Manual and Assembly Manual if available. The C50 would have been the similar Chevrolet as far as GVWR is concerned.
