Ok I am having some issues with the size of my engine. I have a straight 6 (original) in a 65 stepside. Its original color is the light green.
I tried to read the number on the pad behind the distributor and I come up with F0720 and then the next number is stamped over with larger K3604. I chaulked the numbers and I am certain of these. The K is on top of another number and I may be able to identify it later.

I was told to look for a TA, TC,TG,UH,UT used to ID the 6 cylinders.I do not think that advice is correct. Right now all I can say is I have a 292 because they were light green however the books indicates the 292 was used in 60 series only. I have a C10 according to my VIN.

I also do not have any numbers on the front end of the block near the water pump and head, nothing at all. Did all the C10 trucks have the 230 engine? The 230 and 292 appear very similar with exception of the wet and dry air filter. I have dry type but doubt it is original.

If the color of the engine is correct then I have a 292.
