In addition to load handling ability, the Ackerman angle is different for any track width and wheelbase configuration. Rule of thumb is: lines drawn through the center of the kingpins and the tie rod connections should converge where the vehicle centerline intersects the rear axles.

Even minor changes in front end design geometry will increase steering effort and compromise tire life.
