My 1953 GMC is 270 with hydromatic. Starter won't turn over very fast, it is new 6 volt and new battery. Hx ordered new starter and it arrived but nose was wrong for my truck, autoparts swapped my original starter nose onto new starter.
With starter out of engine I connect 6 volt, it engages but as I keep power to starter it increases speed like giving it slow gas? Nothing was done with nose at change is there anything that would keep it from working properly?
