For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 159 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 159 | I have the stock steering column and steering gear in my shop, and I'm sure I could make them work with the new axle. But I am running radials and they are wide tires. The cross shaft is attached to the hubs and runs paralell to the axle. If I understand right, the link from the pitman arm to the hub needs to be as long as possible to avoid the bumpsteer, right?
I would like to get away from the huge steering wheel if I can - I guess that means power steering. Maybe I'll hit a junkyard today and see if I can find any 292 engines with power steering brackets etc. I'll try to get the steering gear as well.
Thanks for the reply!
Craig
