All 230, 250, and 292's use the same basic head, except for the intergal late models which should be avoided at all cost! So with this information, NO swapping heads will not produce more performance! Like Wrenchbender said, the 194 head will produce more compression, but even it needs modifing to produce more power.
There is no magic part for more power on a inline, the best you can hope for is a few more horses with a manifold, carb, and exhaust. When they start out at 140 HP, it takes tons of work just to get in the 200 range.
The intake was designed for cheap dependable transportation. They work pretty good for everyday driving but really suck when it comes to performance. Even with a good carb, the outer cylinders will run a bit lean, thats why a 3 carb intake works so good. Each set of cylinders has its own carb to pull air from.
Start shopping for a RV style cam and different intake. If you are after a lot of power, start looking for a V-8, it will be cheaper to make power with. Joe
