#63738 08/02/2006 5:02 AM | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 | To arrive at the correct length, I would recommend filling the engine with 5 quarts of oil, 6 quarts if using a filter, and set the length of the oil dip stick tube to correspond with the oil level indicated on the stick at the full mark. Be sure to start the engine and let the 6th quart of oil go into the filter before you set your mark. You can also flare the brake line tube on the top and it will look even more correct for accepting the dip stick, allow the dip stick to seal slightly on top of the tube end and give you alittle more solid surface to tap the tube into the block.
