update,
i removed the side cover and it appears that the solid lifters sit higher off the cam then the hydrolics.
so i pulled the lifters and the hydrolic lifter that i installed is a 1/2" shorter then the solid lifter. so i either have the wrong hydrolic lifter or the wrong push rod.
