If you're still running points and have a dwell meter you might want to do a check, or just check the point gap with a feeler gauge. Common problem with points, or if not used very often - either the points get pitted/burned or the rubbing block wears down, which changes both the dwell and the timing.
This doesn't usually cause the idle increase however, that is more likely a vacuum problem.
