I'm not seeing where the factory assembly manual shows an intermediate u-joint on a 1949 3600. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Anyway I split the intermediate u-joint to pull the driveshaft so I could replace the clutch. Reason for the clutch work is a serious chatter when starting from a stopped position. Especially in reverse. I found that the drive shaft has over an inch of play in the middle support. Is that supposed to be a snug fit there? If so then I'm thinking that could be causing the chatter. Still looking for a drawing of that middle driveshaft carrier.
