Thanks for the replies. Automatics behind inline sixes are common in Novas, but not so much in pickup trucks. The Saginaw 3 speed didn't do anything special for me, so I thought I might as well put in a TH350.

I've heard that very few Chevy vans had autos with an inlien 6 and that the bracket kind of wraps around the intake manifold.

I'll go ahead and try Jegs or Summit (thanks for the recommendations!).

As for building a custom bracket... it wouldn't be the first time (power steering).
