The only one of mine that has been drive recently has adequate rear brakes. The one I'm working on now has a GM 14-bolt rear with modern-ish brakes.
Jim Carter has brake drums for the 3/4-ton trucks, I don't know if he carries them for the 1-ton. The 1-ton rear brakes use 14 inch drums.
