You seeing much sediment in the bowl? I had a clogged inline filter once that had these characteristics.
I'm wondering also if you got a loose weave rag/cloth, something that breathes, take your truck out and try to repeat discrepancy, then put rag (or nothing if you're comfortable with that) in place of gas cap. Would be an easy check.
