Thanks man, yeah I have that 1960 shop manual too. I didn't even think to look in there, I just thought it was really wierd that the old switch works properly but the new one doesn't. If there was a short somewhere, I wouldn't be suprised at all, because the plastic connector for the wiring to the switch looks a little melted, and if the truck sits for more than two weeks it needs a boost to start, there's something draining the battery. Likely will rewire it if I ever get to restoring it, until then I'll just use the old switch. The dome light will come on if I take one of the wires and ground it to the cab. kinda wierd.
