Thanks for the reply but after furthing calls to one of the trans companies this is what I found out. The lower fitting on the trans is the high pressure out connector. It goes to the top of the vertical radiator trans cooler. From the bottom connector of the trans cooler the line attaches to the top trans fitting or low pressure side. Hooking up this way the fluid will circulate. If we assumed it was just a loop and the trans pressure line was connected to the bottom of the cooler it would then have to force its way up to the return line against gravity as well and wouldnt flow as efficiently.
