Hi All, (sorry about the long post)

Just picked up an 1947 Australian Built 3/4 Ton truck on the weekend and now I have lots of questions for people who know these beautiful old trucks.

She is still very original with the previous owner restoring it about 17 years ago. You can see photos at http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4652675372

I want to use her as my daily driver, so I was thinking of a few changes to make her a little more driver friendly and this is where I need advice from you guys. The brakes are very scary at the moment, so I was thinking of changing over to disk brakes, the thing is I am struggling to find any info on changing over on this model and no kit's available. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on the changeover, or should I concentrate on getting the drums rebuilt and put a booster in.

The next change that I want to do is change the engine over. I would like to put 350 chev in her with a Turbo 400, has anyone done this or have any suggestions? I have measured the engine bay and a 350 I have in another car and it appears that it will fit without chopping the firewall or engine bay, but I am more than likely wrong. I am not the most mechanically minded but a mate of mine has offered to help and he will be able to fabricate engine brackets etc.

One advantage you guys have over in the states and Canada is the abundance of parts and reproductions bits and pieces, over here is Oz there is very little for pre AD trucks.

Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated.

Cheers,
Richard
