i have a 54 chevy 1/2 ton with hydramatic tranny. I bought a new u-joint with the new rear yoke because my old rear yoke split in half where it connects to the u-joint. now with the new u-joint, how do i install it? i have tried just sliding it on to the driveshaft, but it will not fit between it and the hydramatic transmission. i tried raising the driveshaft, but there is not enough clearance up top to get the yoke on. can i take the crossmember below the driveshaft off and pull the driveshaft down to install it? will it be ok if i take the crossmember off? any ideas would be great! thanks again
