my cure for that has always been a couple of aircraft landing lights either mounted seperately or installed in the h/beam sockets. it usaually demands instanr dimming when given a shot, even at a distance

In Chu Lai many moons ago I hooked up the 100w landing light out of a C123 to the front of an M151 Ford jeep. Didn't know anything about relays back then (or have access to any). We just grounded the light to the bumper and connected the lamp to the firewall cannon plug. I was amazed a 100w bulb could like up an entire 10,000 foot runway. Of course the tower hated it - thought we were an airplane. Only got to use it a couple of times anyway. Turned out the 100w bulb pulled 100 amps and welded the romex to the socket. The only way to turn off the light was to tear the wire out along with the terminal! I don't suppose cops today would find it as much fun as we did.
