| | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,771 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,771 | Find a "HEI" (High Energy Ignition) distributor for a late 70's/early 80's Chevy 250 or 292 6-cylinder engine. With a slight modification to the mounting flange, it will drop into a 216 or 235 engine and provide very much improved ignition performance. There are also aftermarket electronic ignition conversion systems to retain the old-style appearance of the original distributor, but the GM HEI seems to be more reliable and less expensive. Check the "tech tips" section for some very informative articles on HEI conversion.
