| | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 11 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 11 | I have a 350 olds in my truck and had just installed a new starter . The problem is when I turned the ignition on and hit the starter button it would engage and turn slowly . I let off the starter button and it was still slowly turning over . Then I turned off the ignition and it still turned over slowly . I had to unhook the battery to stop it cranking . I was wondering, if the starter needs shimming ? If it was too tight would it keep the starter gear engaged and keep current flowing ?
