If I remember correctly, the "original elbow" looked like a standard hex-sided 1/2" pipe thread plug with a 1/4" tube sticking out of the middle and bend over gracefully to 90 degrees. If I could not find one at the junkyard, I would make one out of a standard 1/2" brass plug. Drill a hole in the top center of the plug, and insert and solder in a piece of 1/4" tubing pre-bent to 90 degrees. Once you hit it with a little black paint it will look original.
