It is an "odd-ball" engine - a transitional engine:
- First high-pressure 235 - Only high-pressure 235 with older 2-bolt valve cover - All other 235s that year were low-pressure - All 235s in previous years were low pressure (with 2-bolt valve covers) - All 235 in future years were high pressure (with 4-bolt valve cover)
A version of that engine (using mechanical lifers and special carburetors and manifolds) was used in the first Corvette.
