You might also check your carb floats. I had a similar problem and it turned out that one of my floats was sticking open causing the carb to flood and stall the engine.
After fighting with my rochesters for a couple of years I finally bought a couple of carter-webbers. One of the best changes I've made to my truck. These are sweet carbs.
