1954 3100 Fuel Gauge Wiring:
I just checked three different 1954 gauge clusters and the 1954 wiring diagram:
Sender (brown/black wire) attaches to the post behind "F = Full" (passenger side from under the dash); and,
Power (pink wire) attaches to the post behind "E = Empty" (driver's side from under the dash).
This is confirmed by the red warning tag on the sender post (passenger side under the dash) on all units and
1954 Shop Manual Wiring Diagram (color code).
1953 and earlier might well be different.
