I've not seen any articles on this but have taken springs to pieces and put them back together lots of times.
just knock the spring clips open with a hammer so that they come clear of the edges of the spring leaves. Then put the whole spring in a heavy vise so that the jaws clamp the complete spring right up by the center bolt. When you have the spring clamped tightly, you can undo the nut on the bottom of the center bolt before undoing the vise and releasing the tension on the spring leaves.
Re-assembly is the reverse of the above, it will be a lot easier if you put a long piece of round bar through the hole before you wind the vice jaws back in, this aligns the spring leaves so that you can put the bolt back easily.
