For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 90 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 90 | Got this truck about '93 for the large sum of a '53 hemi from a school bus. There was 3 trucks in the deal. the only one that was somewhat complete was a mid 40ish GMC 6X6 and enough parts to build 2 2wd flatbeds. And I do mean parts. Boxes and piles and 2 frames one rolling and one tore down to frame rails. What a jig saw puzzle. The complete frame still had the original 216 in it but the farmer sat it along the river with no cover and she was locked tight and full of water. Bought a 60's Chevy step van (vol-fire equip truck) Real low miles. Swapped in with the 216 manifolds to get rid of the step vans updraft carb. Sat an old Holmes rig on the back and used it as a yard truck for awhile with just the hand brake. Cut up the rig and its been sitting since. Getting the fever to start tinkering on it again, but this time I think I'll put the rear clip of of a 48 1/2ton I scrapped and saved frame and bed from. It'll probably never leave town so the factory 4 speed and 2 speed rear should work great for parades and such. Any way It's another relic that is still around and even though it looks rough there is still not one rust hole in it.
