I think you've taken the number off the top of the case..this is NOT the number used to identify the application and corresponding gear ratios...my list of compatible T5's with the correct bolt pattern goes up to 1992 and the highest number from the TAG attached to the speedo side is 1352-000-262. Another thing to consider is that the newer boxes have an electronic speedo pickup which isn't compatable with an older mechanical speedo.
Just today I pulled my sm 420 and am installing an 85 T5 (mechanical speedo) in my 54-235-3100. It will need to make a couple minor modifications which you get from comparing your old transmission main shaft and throwout bearing support shaft with the T5 and adjusting accordingly. Mine will need to be trimmed 1/2" from mainshaft and 1-3/8 from throwout shaft. These measurements are specific to my application and are not necessarily the mods you will need to make....just some figures to give you a ballpark idea. Hope this helps!!! | | |
