Heres my deal,

My 46 1/2 ton has the original engine and it smokes a bit, By the looks of it it is burning just a small amount of smoke. I no these engines have the babbitt bearings and am not sure what to do from here if I want to do a rebuild. Here are my thoughts,,

1) I could pull the engine and have it rebuilt.
2) It looks like I could do a conversion kit for the bearings when I do a rebuild
3) Purchase a newer used engine that does not have the babbitts
4 Upgrade to a 235

I want to keep the truck looking as original as possible, I have a 57 210 post that is going to by my hot rod so I am not interested in changing to much on the truck.

I think what I am looking for is if it was yours what option do you think would be the best. I am leaning towards pulling and finding a reputable engine repair place and have it rebuilt. I you guys know of any places in or around the Columbus Ohio area that would help also.

Thanks for letting me ramble
