Not an authority but would assume jute would retain the the temp it was exposed to. If floor metal was hot or cold it would transfer to hot or cold. I used carpet padding under a V8 Vega I had and between the dampness and heat it seemed to break down the padding. On the cab back/sides should be fine. Have fun and good luck
