Repguy, I put a 292 into a 54 6100 recently. The transmission bolted right up to the bell housing. I did not have to change the clutch or the cross member. I cut the side motor mount perches out of the truck that I got the engine from and cut them down to fit the narrower frame of the 54. Because the PO had cut out the radiator frame allI had to do was bolt the radiator onto the front side of the frame.
