Not sure on the gear ratio it is from an 80 camaro if that helps. I am no tranny specialist for sure but I went to a car tranny to get away from the truck geared trannys. My original one was a top loader with a low, low first gear. 50-60 mph and she was all reved out. I have now changed to a 373 rear end, from a 456 plus also went with a 3 speed out of a 81 malibu iraqi taxi. That switch moved my shifter back about 8 inches, which was about the max for seat clearence. The syncro to second went so that's why the switch to the saginaw which was free!
