Waldo, when you've strung and repaired as many miles of barbed-wire fence as I have, learning to make quick, strong splices is an absolute necessity! Nothing like trying to get that last notch pulled on a ratcheting fence-wire stretcher and having a splice let go, that will remind you to do it better next time! Those splices aren't soldered, either!
