The Carb will easier for you in the long run, I think.
However, Fuel Injection will be a little more fuel efficient.
Watch out on that 80's Pontiac. You may have a Transaxle (Front Wheel Drive Tranny) to worry about. I don't think it has one (at least, not if it's got a 305 in it), but it won't hurt to check. If it does, you can go to a junk yard and pick up a tranny out of a wreck, or just bolt the 305 to the tranny in the truck now.
