so looking at my exhaust setup last night, I noticed that it is setup from a single pipe header and a second exhaust tube is welded in about a foot down the pipe from the original manifold. The second exhuast pipe is welded in to create a "v" that is inline with the exhaust flow, so that it seperates into the two exhaust systems.

the added exhaust pipe then goes in front of the engine and around to the passenger side of the engine. The other (original?) exhaust pipe goes straight to the rear of the vehicle.

My questions are:

Is this a hack setup or something that is typical and/or commercially offered?

Does it improve exhaust flow even though all the exhuast gets necked down to one pipe before being allowed to go into two pipes?

I'll grab a picture of it and post it tommorrow.
