Agree completely with Wrenchbender. Electric pumps are "pusher" pumps. They will "push" a liquid around the world if you have enough line; but they won't "pull" a liquid 15 inches. Best location is below the tank (gravity feed to pump) if at all possible. Try it on the firewall if you wish (the very best lesson is always learned by making a mistake
), but if it works it will be the first one I have heard of that worked in that location in 35 years.
The small rotary pumps are very susceptible to trash. Always protect the pump with an inline filter.
