I'm not sure how much response you have gotten from the post here in the DITY Gallery. It sounds like you've been looking around the site pretty much (and actually getting outside of just the forums -- that's good!). You may want to post some of these specific questions in the restoration forms. The folks in there will be able to help you noodle through.
To my surprise (in doing Gallery pages), we've had a lot of people come back and say they knew NOTHING about restoring a truck and got straight-out guidance from the gang on the site. A few have even had a Bolter or two show up at their house to lend some help when needed.
Thanks for the comments about the site. Hope we can help you get that non-trailer-queen Stovebolt up, running and looking impressive!
