If you beat on it you probably swelled it up. When that happens, I grind the bolt off so it is flush with the beam eye, apply some head and hit it with a punch about the same size threads were. I have also had luck with an air chisel with a flat punch bit. Between the heat and the rattling of the air chisel I have always managed to get the pins out.
