Before you pull it apart start your engine and check for a vacumn leak by spraying some Berrymen around the bottom of the carb gasket or the intake /exhaust manifold. If there is a leak it will speed up and you can see it suck the fluid in. You will save your self some work too. I had a split fenaolic block base one time and it gave me the fits trying to find itas it was on the back side. There is one other thing you might check to see if the throttle arm bushing are leaking you may need to replace them.
