Jake, you will find that the 82 rear is giong to be way too wide for your 39-46. There are others on this forum that know more about this than I do, but some have used the rear end out of a 4X4 Blazer. This gives you the six stud wheels.
The other option, which is what I did, is to find the center pimpkin out of a 55-59 1/2 ton. It will bolt right up to the 46 axel housing giving you an open drive line and a 3.90 rear end. This combo works well with my T5.
