I just (Monday) bought a 1959 Apache step-side. It was advertised as a 1/2 ton. When I went to get it the Spear on the side had a 32. I thought that half-tons were either 3100 or 31, making 3200 or 32 a 3/4 ton. The guy I bought truck from said, No, that Chevy stopped making 3100's in 1954 and all half tone's after that were designated 3200 or 32. I didn't really believe him, and now on this forum I'm seeing 1/2 tons with the 3100 designation. My question: What's the difference between a 3100, 31, 3200 and 32. Thanks.
Looking forward to starting work on the truck. It runs great, I drove it over 90 miles home. But it has a lot of body problems - rust through, dents, crinkles, etc.
