My truck came to me with a "Valley RV" hitch that has a tongue weight rating of 500 lbs and a tow weight of 5000, if I remember right. It is a thick 1/2", at least, flat chromed piece of metal that starts at a frame crossmember and goes between the bumper and the tailgate. I haven't used it but it looks to be quite strong and well installed.
