I was looking around for my sanding block and foud a old sanding sponge. I bought it many years ago to sand drywall and it was a disaster. I don't know why I kept it all these years but the prep gods smiled on me as I tried it on my truck last night.
It was alost enjoyable to use on the primer and the painted areas of the truck. It leaves a nice smooth finish, no wrinkling of the paper to cause scratches or grooves. It is easy to hold onto and control. And it seems to last for a very long time. I sanded for a few hours last night and the sponge still seems to have the same abrasion level.
One side is a little more abrasive than the other. I am going out tonight to see if I can get more. I have seen these at Home Depot (where I bought this one 20 years ago).
I will post type and manufacturer if anyone is interested.
