I've found that some of the code info on American Classic is incomplete, or sometimes just wrong. Their engine code lists for '61 and '62 only show codes for the truck engines, so your car engine code is not included.

The suffix lists in my Chevy parts manuals show the BE suffix for '60, '61, and '62. The only way to narrow it exactly is by the block casting date code, which would give the year, as mentioned above.

BTW, not that it matters, but your engine could have been installed originally in any of the car models, excluding Corvair of course (1100, 1300, 1500, and 1700 series 6-cyl. vehicles--Biscaynes, Bel-Airs, and Impalas). The serial suffix doesn't specify the exact model.
