or you could just go to your local FLAPS and pick up a simple in-line fuel filter...
In my experience...the particles of rust that come out of a bad tank will vary in size. from dime-size flakes, to stuff so fine that no filter would be able to catch it. I'm not sure how much the tiny particles will affect your engine, but it's probably not good.
Better safe than sorry. That's why I really went all-out on my tank.
