I have a 54 GMC 1/2-ton truck and I believe it has the original 4.11:1 rear-end ratio with 6-lug pattern. My question is I found a 1957 Chevy car rear-end w/ a 3.55:1 ratio and 5 lug pattern. I was told it measures 54.5" from flange to flange and has the following numbers cast into it: CE217, 3726899, GM23. Will this rear-end work in my truck and can I switch axles, so I can retain my 6-lug bolt pattern? Thanks.
