I just bought a clock to mount in the glovebox door of my '37 truck. It's supposed to be in good working order, but I want to bench test it first. My question is if I need to worry about positive ground issues when installing it. I'm keeping the 6 volt electrical system original. Could any damage be done to the clock if it's hooked up with the wrong polarity? I personally don't think so, but I want to make sure for years from now when somebody tries to jump it with the wrong polarity etc.. I'm thinking of installing an inline fuse or switch so it won't kill the battery also. Any thoughts on installing this fuse on the ground wire vs. the (feed) wires for the clock and internal light to make for the most correct installation possible. Again I think it makes no difference which side is switched, but maybe one way is considered "correct". Thanks. I wanted to add an important item to this: The truck is apart right now and not located where I'm at at the moment. I thought I recalled the truck being a positive ground, but I just checked the Stovebolt reference section manuals(an EXCELLENT source btw!) and it shows the truck having a negative ground. I think I may have been confusing it with a '37 Packard we also have. can anybody just confirm that these were negative ground systems?
