Don't include me in that Jeff, I to much of a purest to use anything other than what was originally in the truck.
The waffle pattern felt paper from Chevs of the 40's is very close to the original material and it can be used in the doors, roof and toe board to kill the drumming. I believe the material was originally installed in the roof behind the headliner, behind the three braces behind the seat and on the toe board, at least that's the way it was in my '50 and I'm pretty sure that the truck is about 95% original.
Although it was used in the doors on many cars of the day I've never seen it in doors of the AD’s from the factory, but they certainly could use it.
When you look at the places that you can use it, the cost doesn’t seem so bad. Then you have to find a good stickum for it that will take the heat, stick to the treated felt paper and not stink like a tar and gravel roof.
