There is a guy around here who ditched his 1959 running gear, took a '70s - '80s 4x4 Chevy truck frame, lowered the 1950 frame over the top, scribed the two frames and cut them, then welded both frames together (one on top of the other). Looks sharp and he got the look of a lift without having to screw up the factory suspension geometry of the "new" frame. I don't know about hooking up the steering, and I'm sure the brake lines would have had to be extended/modified, but I think this is the way I'm going to do my '36. . .if I ever get around to it.
