Just got the ol' 58 kicken again after a 15 year nap.

I completely flushed & scrubbed the tank, lines etc, replaced the fuel pump & rebuilt the carb.

The previous owner installed a new starter, points, condenser, coil, cap & rotor. The old wires are still there though.

I got it running almost immediately & found a pile of leaks from cracked fittings or bad oil seal on the filter etc.

Once i fixed those I've noticed something.

The truck will not start w/o the choke completely pulled out.

The truck will not run for more than 30 seconds or so.

It will die if I step on the gas pedal.

??

I expect it is the carb - & I know very little about these - I'm not above just buying a brand new one just to avoid monkeying with something I don't know.

Could it be a stuck float or something simple before I junk it & buy another?
